The Patching Zone is a transdisciplinary R&D media laboratory where professionals, together with master, (post-)doc students and PhD students, joint forces.
The Patching Zone explicitly distinguishes between the concepts of trans- and multidisciplinary. Unlike multidisciplinary work processes in which each team member sticks to his or her own field, a transdisciplinary project is characterised by crossing disciplinary boundaries.
Team members leave behind -for the duration of the project- their usual professional frameworks and enter new territory. This creates an unusual flow of ideas, giving an unexpected, new twist to the process. Through changing, unusual combinations of disciplines, a whole is created that is capable of tackling a complex issue innovatively.
The staff of The Patching Zone have earned their spurs in New Media and the Arts and Culture sector, in business, science, care and education. Led by Dr Anne Nigten, we work with a close-knit international team on socially and culturally relevant projects. Our projects are never 'tech push' but look for appropriate technology with content as a starting point.
The Patching Zone is a practice laboratory working on behalf of socially engaged organisations, educational institutions, local and national politics and business. The original interpretation of the talented team makes a significant contribution in the innovative execution of assignments.
The Patching Zone specialises in a variety of creative social innovation projects. We shape each assignment in close cooperation with our (business) partners, ensuring a trajectory tailored to the organisation. We require an active contribution from our clients, so that the innovation process is embedded in the organisation. We therefore prefer to speak of partners rather than clients; the willingness to cooperate is essential.
We offer our partners the knowledge and dynamic methods developed at The Patching Zone. A prerequisite is that our clients recognise themselves in Process Patching methodology and are willing to invest in the future.
After more than 15 years the Pathing Zone closed down their creative and social enterprice. After thanking all young professionals, students, experts, boardmembers and partners for the inspiring work director Anne Nigten continued a new story! All the gained knowledge and expertise will be transferred to - and further developed at CASE (Centre for Arts & Sciences Education).
